It’s officially been a week since THE BONE COTTAGE released out into the world!
On actual release day my weekly coven meeting was canceled so the husband and I had a little toast just the two of us (the teen was otherwise occupied with teen things and video games). And I took a moment to just breathe it in. There’s something surreal about creating a thing–spending months and months with it, honing it, dreaming about it, talking about it, and on and on–and then giving it over to other people to experience. It feels terrifying, humbling, and too many other adjectives to count. And there’s something about this one…so far it’s my favorite thing I’ve ever written. So there’s definitely more weight to get it right and get it into readers hands.

Saturday was the kick off to festival season and we started out with everyone’s favorite festival: PRIDE!
It’s always just the best time–so much joy and acceptance and Catawba Pride is held on private property so no assholes protesting (WIN). We did it last year and I feel like we’ll always do that one–it’s just such a great, positive way to kick off a busy season.

I ended up selling OUT of my copies of The Bone Cottage! It was so surreal. I watched the stacks just dwindle as the day went on and I looked over at my author friends and said “I think I might sell out today!” never really thinking that I would. But sure enough, everyone was intrigued and wanted to read all about Morwyn and the cottage.
I wrote a little bit earlier about my pitch and how it was difficult to nail down what to say in a few short sentences that would be enough to grab someone’s attention. I’m sort of keeping to what I started with–asking people if they know anything about the Brown Mountain Lights and then jumping off from there. It’s getting easier the more I do it (as most things tend to).
I just placed a huge order to prep for the coming season so everyone cross your fingers that I keep selling out!
Many thanks to everyone who’s already ordered or purchased from me! I’m getting messages and photos of delivered books and it’s amazing to see! If you wouldn’t mind, please leave a review–the ‘zon, Goodreads, etc. Every review is so helpful!
