The Finish Line

Yesterday, with twenty days to spare for the deadline, I uploaded all the documents for Pathfinder! I finished work on the cover (which I really love) and everything uploaded seamlessly. And this time, KDP did NOT find spelling errors (though I am sure there are some hidden in there somewhere)!

I was hoping to be able to report that this second book has been easier than the first to get ready. In some ways, I suppose it has been. Using the template for the cover, uploading everything correctly, navigating the interfaces for the distributor and amazon are much easier this time around. But life has been life-ing hard the last few months and the process has seemed like it’s been dragging on for ages and my heart just doesn’t feel as into it. I think part of it is that I’ve sat with this story for almost 4 years and it’s taking up so much mental space I cant tap into my well of creativity like I’d like to.

I have managed to draft an entire standalone story since writing The God’s Wife Trilogy, so I know I’m capable, but as soon as I decided to dive headfirst into self-publishing, that has taken all my mental fortitude. I am about 13,000 words into another story that I started back in May and each one of those words has been like pulling teeth to get it out. It’s a story I am so, so excited for but it has to go on the back burner until the trilogy is out into the world and off my plate. Maybe that’s a weird way to look at it and maybe as I carry on and get better at juggling all the spinning plates of my life it’ll be easier to manage, but for now? This indie author is overwhelmed, a bit irritable, kind of tired, but also really wanted to dig into something new…but also let the trilogy find success because it’s her first baby. Look, it’s a lot and it’s complicated, okay?

I have also set a tentative release date for the final book in the trilogy, The God’s Wife for 25 February 2025–my 40th birthday! I figure that’s a pretty good gift for myself and also a big milestone–the big Four-Oh and the last in my first trilogy to be out into the world! So be on the lookout for updates on that one!

If you haven’t pre-ordered Pathfinder yet, please do so! It’s so helpful to me (and the paperback pre-order should be out in a couple of days) and I am so appreciative if you already have!

Also, thank you so much this last year for all your support! It is so appreciated and you guys will never know how grateful I am to you!
